Ted Waters and the Availables

Thursday 17th April 2025 – 7.30pm

The Old School Room, Chew Magna

Local folk singer-songwriter weaves her life threads and love of nature together through heart-warming soul-soothing songs, with exquisite vocals and internationally renowned band members.

Ted Waters is a soul-soothing, heartwarming singer-songwriter whose vibrant land-based life inspires stories of love, acceptance, and the complex beauty of our modern world from a deeply grounded perspective. A classically trained multi-instrumentalist and natural-voice practitioner, she blends those roots with contemporary folk, stunning vocals and gentle finger-picking guitar inviting listeners into a space of connection and reflection.

From her late teens Ted’s life has danced between music, agroecology, and environmental activism. Previously touring under her given name Susanna Waters, she captivated festival audiences for over two decades at events like The Secret Garden Party, Sunrise Festival and Ashton Court Festival. After the birth of her children, her focus shifted to raising conscious boys, homeschooling, & starting an organic farm, while continuing to write, record, perform, host seasonal local celebrations, and produce music for theatre. She is currently recording 2 albums of her own songs due for release summer 2025 & Spring 2026.

Joining Ted are two outstanding local musicians Jimmy Norden (international drummer to the stars and winner of the Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Musical Contribution) and Tom Wilding (multi-instrumentalist, producer and trumpet player in Bristols renowned Smerins Anti-social Club).

Ted Waters and the Availables will be supported by Ruth Blake

Ruth sings honest songs that feel like medicine; soulful stories of heartbreak and resolve, chaos and courage, decay into summer and hope and beyond.

With a warm and authentic stage presence she accompanies her captivating voice with a mix of guitar and piano. Also a counsellor, Ruth has devoted her life to deep self-enquiry and healing. She aims to inspire connection, community, and hope by diving into – instead of shying away from – the the hard, messy truths of her human experience.
