Montague Terrace
Brass Works Theatre
Saturday 1st November – 7.30pm
Chew Stoke Village Hall, Chew Stoke
A powerful new drama spanning decades, exploring loss, hope, and the quiet strength of human connection.
Set in a crumbling Victorian house in the heart of London, Montague Terrace delicately weaves the stories of four strangers—two from wartime 1944 and two from the present day—whose lives echo through the same building across time. Separated by generations but united by grief, resilience, and the instinct to survive, their stories unfold beneath the watchful gaze of a centuries-old Plane tree, a silent witness to love, loss, and renewal.
At its heart, the play asks: What connects us across time? How do we rebuild when everything has been lost?
In 1944, a soldier suffering from PTSD returns to a home devastated by the Blitz to discover his family gone. He meets Helena, a Czech refugee and survivor of internment, who faces her uncertain future with dignity and strength.
In the present, David, a man brought to his knees by the pandemic, moves into the same building, only to discover Sarah—a survivor of domestic abuse—finding quiet sanctuary in a vacant flat.
As their timelines intertwine, Montague Terrace becomes a haunting and hopeful meditation on the human spirit and the enduring connections that transcend time and space.
