Step into Oz with Valley Arts!

Our hugely popular musical theatre holiday club is back—with a new twist! This year, we’re heading down the Yellow Brick Road for some fabulous “Oz”-themed fun. Packed with songs, scenes, and characters inspired by hit musicals The Wizard of Oz, Wicked, and The Wiz, we’ll be exploring musical theatre through singing, acting, and dance.

For ages 7–11 (school years 3–7) Join us for a 2‑day workshop designed to boost confidence, spark creativity, make new friends, and build magical memories. No previous experience is needed, and all materials are provided. At the end of the second day, families are invited to enjoy a short performance showcasing everything the children have learned.

May Half Term Drama Club – Slapstick, Clowning and Comedy – 2 Day Workshop

Join us for the second instalment of our fun-filled workshop with Stevie Thompson, Artistic Director of Flibbertigibbet Theatre.
Over two creative days, children will explore physical storytelling, comic character creation, slapstick routines, and classic silent‑movie comedy inspired by Chaplin, Keaton and Lloyd. We’ll dive into pantomime and Commedia dell’Arte, discovering why some jokes never stop being funny.

This session also introduces using Trestle half-masks giving opportunities to play with text, helping young performers blend words, movement and character. They’ll work with props, costumes and comic timing to create imaginative, hilarious routines.

Aimed at ages 7-13 (Year groups 3-9) this workshop is perfect for beginners and returning participants alike—there’s plenty to learn, explore and laugh about!
