Come and try – Music workshop
Saturday 8th November – 10am
The Old School Rooms, Chew Magna
A relaxed, informal space to experience what music has to offer for the first time! If you’re looking to try something new, or to see if you or a young person wants to try out a new hobby, come by and try out some new instruments, or if technology is more your thing, there is much of this on offer too!
You can use many instruments and technology on offer — such as guitars, microphones, wind instruments, keyboards, synthesisers, effects and more! The musicians who are offering their time and equipment have worked on sound and music for video games, films, and theatre, as tutors in schools and universities, and gigging or supporting those who do and many other areas.
We encourage people to come and go as they please and are offering this walk-in session as a first step into music — an informal and accessible middle ground to build the bridges between schools, tutoring, and the traditional classical scene, showing what music really is to so many and what it means to us. We hope you leave the session feeling more positive and with a wider knowledge of what music can be.
Our session is hosted by both those who work in music and sound and others who enjoy it as a hobby. We’re more than happy to have a chat about the areas we’ve worked in, the music or instruments we enjoy. There is so much more to sound and music than what is most visible. Behind that artist you love, there are teams of hundreds of people working together to make that show great.
