North Somerset’s ‘Mendip Swing’ was founded more than 20 years ago with the ambition of giving musicians of all abilities the opportunity to experience playing in a classic big band.
Subsequently mentored by professional jazz performer, composer and arranger Andy Hague, the band has gone from strength to strength and has more recently built an enthusiastic following amongst lovers of live music and dance.
While its roots are firmly in traditional swing, the band’s repertoire is anything but. Expect timeless classics from the likes of Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Buddy Rich, alongside favourites from musical theatre and film, Latin rhythms and a host of other styles.
Come to listen, dance or simply soak up the atmosphere!
